The Adirondack Thunder came into Game 2 the same way they did their opening series vs Maine Mariners, which was down 1-0 and looking to even up the series before heading out to Norfolk. For the second straight game, the Admirals would open up the scoring as Keaton Jameson scored 12 seconds into the Admirals first PP of the night at the 12:52 mark of the opening frame. After the opening frame, the Admirals would be up 1-0, but Adirondack would put 18 shots toward Yaniv Perets but couldn’t get anything past him. The Thunder would finally crack Perets at the 11:30 mark of the second as Travis Broughman fed Yushiro Hirano for his second goal in as many games. As the middle frame was winding down, it looked as if we would be headed into the third tied-up at one, but it would be Stepan Timofeyev who would come off the bench and score with one too many Admirals on the bench to give Norfolk a 2-1 lead.

Ya and the third period a couple things happened but we’re fighting against the refs too here it looks like, you miss a blatant call when it’s 1-1, it’s insane, so ya that’s dissapointing but I’m proud of our guys the schedule we’ve had coming down the stretch, we’re down 2-0 but Dallas was just down 2-0, right, Toronto was down 3-1, their series, right? we’re playing against a good team here, we’re gonna do our best to get some rest, get a good practice in when we get down there and get some good food and be ready to rock for Game 3

Adirondack would quickly forget that missed call as Shane Harper would feed Tristan Ashbrook in front to tie the game at two; for Ashbrook, that was his sixth goal of the Kelly Cup Playoffs. It would be Norfolk’s Danny Katic who picked up the game-winning goal on a play where two Thunder players were heading back to the bench after breaking their sticks. Austin Keating and Mathieu Roy would add goals for the Admirals as they would go on to win Game 2 by a score of 5-2. Yaniv Perets was once again incredible between the pipes for the Admirals, making 41 saves in the Game 2 win.

“Obviously it feels good, it’s so funny these types of series and games there’s so much respect, there’s a reason they were #1 in the Division, honestly it’s like the Dallas/Vegas series, you blink and it changes, playoffs in May, it’s not over till the league says you’ve won four games and the final whislte blows. For us, we’re not looking at as if we have a cushion or we’re up, it’s just we have a game Wednesday and we’re playing a really tough opponent at home”

Game 3 between Norfolk and Adirondack will take place at Norfolk Scope at 7 pm on Wednesday Night.
