Kansas City Royals Give Update on Injured 1B Vinnie Pasquantino
USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Royals provided a positive update on injured first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino, who is out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.

The team put out a statement and a picture on Twitter:

Vinnie Pasquantino had successful surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. We wish him the best in his recovery and look forward to him being fully healthy for next season!

Pasquantino commented on the post and said "hello there," in his own brand of dry humor.

While it's never a positive update when someone is out for the season, it's good to see that Pasquantino is on the mend. Along with Bobby Witt Jr., he's a huge part of the Royals rebuild and him missing the rest of the season is a brutal development since he is missing out on valuable reps.

The slugger finishes the year by hitting .247 with nine homers and 26 RBI. After coming up in 2022 and making his major league debut, he hit 10 homers and drove in 26 giving him 19 homers and 52 RBI for his career.

In addition to his work with the Royals, he also played for Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic this spring.

The Royals are mired in a dreadful season. They are 20-54 and in last place in the American League Central. They have the second-worst record in all of baseball, just barely ahead of the 19-57 Oakland Athletics.

The Royals will play the Rays on Thursday at 6:40 p.m. ET.
